October, 2016. We are halfway through the season now, which means the competition will be heating up. A friendly reminder to all of our Saturday teams that matches will be resuming this Saturday October 8th. Please make sure you check your draws.

Each month we will be taking a look at the highs and lows of the past few weeks as well as upcoming news and events in the TennisGear SuperLeague world.

We would love to share your stories and pictures with the rest of our SuperLeague community. Please feel free to call us with any ideas or content. Stay tuned for more SuperLeague news in next month's edition.
Sweet success for Shaw Berries
Move aside Bob and Mike, the Caro brothers are coming up the ranks! Ok, so they may have a way to go, but Phil and Richard (pictured) are proving that a bit of persistence and a good attitude can pay off. The pair started their SuperLeague crusade back in season 1 2014. Since then, they have worked their way from Division 3 to 1 on Wednesday night. The boys accredit their success to not taking themselves too seriously and always fighting until the very last point. It hasn't been smooth sailing all the way. The Berries were squeezed in their Div 2 grand final last season and faced an anxious wait to see whether they could still move up. Fortunately, they weren't left feeling blue, with their efforts rewarded by Tennis Brisbane. Berry best of luck for the rest of the season.
Deja Vu for Gert
Gert Schroer, a distinguished member of the old Milton Tennis Club, has recently joined the Roy Emerson tennis club for Thursday Night Super League. He's off to a flyer, notching up a couple of victories already in the Super Grade division. After 20 years, Gert says, “It’s nice to see a world class tennis centre at Milton again. It’s been a pleasure playing at these newly constructed courts and the quality of service provided by the centre is par excellence". Gert is looking to become a permanent player for the Super League next season in 2017. We are thrilled to have Gert back out on court and wish him all the best on his comeback trail.

Drop-Shots prove tough
Well done to all our new Sunday Junior League players. Our very own Morningside Drop-Shots, Connor Rudman, 9, (pictured above with opponent Aiko Kino), and Brielle Byers, 10, have not yet been defeated. Connor has shown outstanding skill in all his games and is yet to be beaten in either his singles or doubles matches. But the Drop-Shots aren't getting excited just yet.. They know they have a good few rounds of play to go before finals. Can Connor and Brielle hold on to their undefeated status or will another team be able to triumph over Junior League 3’s leading team? Until then, game-face is on!
He's not heavy...
No sibling quarrels here! Meet Greg and Emily, the formidable Shaw Shredders.  They are a Div 3, brother-sister combo sitting a respectable 3rd on the ladder on Tuesday nights. Opponents of the pair know to watch out for the vicious amount of rip and spin Greg gets on the ball and to never EVER sit it up to Emily's powerful forehand. Together on the doubles court, their games compliment each other perfectly. We are confident of big things to come from these two. Keep it up!
Morningside offering "Super Sunday" special
The Morningside Tennis Centre is pleased to announce an exclusive deal to all of their current SuperLeague players. Enjoy half price court hire every Sunday between 10:00am and 3:00pm. "We'd like to give all our SuperLeaguers a chance to have a hit and get some extra practice for their matches" explains SuperLeague coordinator, Amy,  "Hopefully that will help them play better come competition night".

If you play SuperLeague or JuniorLeague for the club on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, or Sunday then come and take advantage of this great deal. Fill-in players can also get in on the action too! If you've helped us out this season, we'd like to say a big thank you and see you on Sunday.

The offer will run right through until the end of the current season. Contact our office for more information or to book a court. 3899 8110.
