TennisGear nominated at TQ Awards 2016

October, 2016

We’re hanging up our tennis gear for an evening as we prepare for the 2016 Tennis QLD awards on October 29th. It will be glitz and glam at the sport’s night of nights, with all the big names in attendance. Sam Stosur, John Millman, and Bernard Tomic are just a few household names that will be competing for the illustrious Ashley Cooper Medal awarded to the Athlete of the Year.

Equally as exciting are our very own Tennis Gear nominees. Head coach at Emerson, John Zelinski, is up for ANZ Hot Shots Coach of the Year with the Emerson Tennis Centre also nominated for QLD Club of the Year.

“It is a great honour to receive these nominations,” says Zelinski. “I feel incredibly blessed to be doing a job that I love, in the sport that I love, and being at the former site of the QLD Tennis Centre makes it even more special”. From everyone here at TennisGear we would like to congratulate John and all the staff at Emerson for all your hard work, we wish you all the best.

This year’s nominations success continues a strong legacy for our clubs at the awards. In 2013 the Shaw Park Tennis Centre won Queensland Club of the Year. In 2014 Morningside Tennis Centre won both the State and National title for Club of the Year with Shaw Park’s Dom Andrews named as Hot Shots coach of the Year. Last year saw Morningside’s Head coach Ross Orford take the top gong for Coach of the Year for 2015.

Silverware or not, it is sure to be a fantastic evening celebrating our wonderful sport and local achievement. Good luck to all nominees. For a full list of nominees and all categories, click here.
